Latest wine news
Over recent months, we have been taking deliveries from the farm into our UK stock but often selling out very quickly – before we can communicate what we have with everyone. Sooooo….. this time we are writing ahead of a shipment arrival, to make sure that those of you who haven’t had a look in can get your orders in early!
This time of year the vines are loosing their leaves and sleeping, and will not start budding now until spring commences in mid-late August. We planted some old blocks last year with new vines, which have taken well and we hope for no expectedly cold or frosty weather this year. Cover crops have been sewn and we await spring with keen interest. Lodewyk and our team have replanted some 2ha of new vineyards, including a big block which was pinotage and is now shiraz (good news for all the Sable fans), as well as more chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.
So we now have a shipment on the water, and so will be getting the new stock into the cellar in about 3 weeks. We are already taking orders ahead of the wine arriving into the UK. By the way, the KM wines continue to do well in the medals with Directors Reserve 2010 and 2011 both winning gold medals at Michelangelo Awards 2014.
We have also been on the road this year! Our wine team of Willie Stoffberg and Junior Burger have been exhibiting, including our first show in China. This could be the beginning of something really exciting. And then of course Faisal, our wine-sniffer-in-chief, has been on the road in the UK with the Naked Wine Show. He was not naked though, in case you were wondering…
